Exposição - Tail. Antifeminine, Círculo de Bellas Artes, Madrid, até 5 de Junho de 2024
46 years ago Colita (Isabel Steva Hernández) and Maria Aurèlia Capmany joined together to vindicate the role of women in a sexist society. Each one from their professions, one a photographer and the other a writer, published what can be considered the first openly feminist graphic book in the era of the Transition, Antifémina . Published in 1977, the publisher quickly withdrew it from the market, but it became a critical and vindictive cult book.
Years later, Colita and Francesc Polop, director of its Archive, recovered the project by locating and restoring the original negatives. The Book was finally republished and published in 2021 by the Terranova publishing house and the Barcelona City Council.
The validity of their complaints and reflections makes it necessary today for this pioneering project to see the light again. Through this exhibition, which is presented for the first time, we want to highlight the value of the book, as well as vindicate the figure of two intellectual and brave women who fought in a turbulent time to dignify the fact of being a woman and talk about feminism. , clearly and directly.
