The What They Saw Initiative : Historical Photobooks by Women, 1843–1999 . Historical Photobooks Made by Women, 1843-1999], which consists of a traveling exhibition, an eponymous publication, and a series of public programs, seeks to awaken interest in photobooks made by women between 1843 and 1999, and thus fill the existing gaps in the historiography of the medium, which has devoted less attention to the documentation and dissemination of these works. With the collaboration of 10x10 Photobooks, a non-profit organization whose objective is to make photobooks known throughout the world, promoting their appreciation and understanding, What They Saw comes to the Museum's Library and Documentation Center as a exhibition project that proposes new readings and dialogues with the institution's funds.
